We are living in the days of Elijah

“These are the days of Elijah, declaring the Word of the Lord… These are the days of the great trails of famine and darkness and sword, we are still the voice in the desert crying out, prepare the way of the Lord!” -lyrics from “Days of Elijah” by Robin Mark.

Who is Elias? Around the year 850 a. C., the Northern Kingdom of Israel had fallen into a great apostasy. Wicked kings and queens ruled the Israelites, and the nation allowed its children to be sacrificed to the false god Baal. During this time, God raised up Elijah to warn the rulers and people to turn to God and follow his commandments or face imminent judgment.

In recent decades, like northern Israel, the United States has traveled a path of no return by defying the commandments of the God of the Bible. American culture has driven God out of the public and out of schools, the military, and the government. And while there has been a move to demand immediate compliance against those who uphold Biblical principles, there has also been a movement of those who declare the Word of the Lord – such as Elijah – refusing to compromise even under the threat of ostracism or persecution.

Jonathan Cahn, a Messianic Jewish rabbi and author, has been sounding the alarm about the impending doom of Americans since 9/11. Cahn wrote the New York Times bestselling novel, the Herald. The book draws parallels between the United States and Israel. Did you know that the United States faces the exact same nine omens that northern Israel faced before it ceased to be a nation? Cahn questions the radical transformation of America, asking how our civilization turned against God by calling evil good and good evil. In an effort to get America to repent and return to God, Cahn lays out a historically compelling reason in his video about America’s ultimate fate. Cahn concludes that the United States was once a prosperous nation, but is now a nation filled with apathy.

America’s government leaders and elected judges promote sexual immorality, “sacrificing children to Baal,” by sanctioning the abortion of more than 57 million babies, and politicians encourage the land’s laws to demean and demean those who support traditional marriages and social problems. In essence, people who take a stand now are being persecuted simply for their religious beliefs, just as they were in Elijah’s day.

There is a common perception that Christian persecution must occur during the last days. What happened at the beginning of the age has to happen at the end of the age because history always repeats itself. During the Days of Elijah, the prophets hid in caves from just persecution; they were basically declared enemies of the state. Such persecution is occurring when Biblical teachings are viewed as “hate crimes.” The world is on a collision course to declare Christians enemies of the state. Followers of Christ should be aware that serving the Lord and believing in his Son Jesus Christ will be a matter of controversy during these Last Days. However, Christians must not compromise. We must continue to proclaim the Good News of the Word of God.

In a dramatic confrontation, Elijah boldly asked those who continued to worship the false god Baal: “How long will you vacillate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:4) Take a look at recent US Supreme Court rulings: we are living in the days of Elijah! Now is the time to choose who you will serve because our nation’s judges are declaring good as evil and calling evil as good.
