Tourist opinion on Malta

Sitting on a plane waiting to take off, I met two tourists on their way to their homeland, bidding farewell to the blessed islands of Malta and their unforgettable vacation. A Dutch couple sitting next to me on the plane looked at me and asked if I was Maltese. I nodded and was congratulated for living on such a wonderful rock.

To my amusement, I continued the discussion to see what they really liked about the Maltese Islands. Of course, tourists almost always love the local weather; sunshine and light breezes are common throughout the year. This event took place in March, a time when rain and cold continue to dominate most countries. However, it was nice for walks and hikes in light pants and a t-shirt or thin cardigan in Malta. In fact, this couple enjoyed a four-hour ride along the north coast of Malta, from Bugibba to the capital, Valletta.

The visitors had also enjoyed a day out on Malta’s sister island, Gozo. They were impressed by the laid-back lifestyle that Gozitans still enjoy. Beautiful landscapes, beaches, green areas, fortifications like Cittadella, historical museums, dungeons and more are on your list of must-sees in Gozo. They also came across a marketing shoot for an international clothing brand presenting their campaign with local settings for their videos and ads in New York City, USA.

Back in Malta, the Dutch couple liked the Maltese cuisine. Warm and Mediterranean dishes at their best. They were also surprised by the fact that the Maltese tend to eat late. Apparently, in the Netherlands, people eat dinner before eight o’clock at night (as they usually do in Malta). They were very satisfied with their accommodation in Malta and loved their surroundings. They stayed in the fortified city of the capital, Valletta.

They described their 5 star hotel in Malta as very nice, with good food, very central and luxurious. Access to transportation was just a few steps away, which made their vacation so much easier as they could easily move from one excursion to another. Only Valletta is a place where you can spend the whole day visiting interesting places that mark the history of Malta. There are also a number of restaurants, shops, hairdressers, pharmacies and more important establishments considered important for tourists.

While enjoying a satisfying experience in Malta, the Dutch couple couldn’t wait to return home to their children and family. However, they will ensure that they return to the Maltese Islands for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
