The secrets of mushroom cultivation

Surely if you are a mushroom lover, you will want to know how to grow mushrooms. Naturally, you would be curious about mushrooms. It would not be surprising if avid mushroom eaters wanted to grow their own mushrooms. After all, mushrooms are a great source of protein.

Contrary to the common knowledge that mushroom cultivation would involve an enormous amount of skills, as well as a kind of specialized technique to cultivate these little gems, mushrooms are of the straightforward kind. As long as the food is given and all the necessary requirements are met, all the grower has to do is wait until harvest time comes. It is true that when you live in the country, you can grow as many as you can. Just because you live in the city doesn’t mean you can’t grow your own mushroom garden. As long as you have the space, your medium, and a few spores, you can make batch mushrooms. Just like in the field, you basically let them be, making sure they have enough food to eat and moisture and that the temperature is sufficient, your mushrooms will explode like little white balloons in your middle right before your eyes!

Did you know that the secret to growing mushrooms is not a big secret after all? Perhaps when you ask a mushroom grower what the secret of a great tasting mushroom is, all they answer is a smile on their face. Perhaps you can conclude that it must be a long-kept secret that only a few should know about. But the secret is not that great.

Are you curious to know what that is? When you want to grow great mushrooms, all you need is to have spores or spawn. You don’t have to take care of it either. Don’t think of this as an exotic plant that has special needs. Have you heard of the phrase “popping up like mushrooms along the railroad”? Well that’s basically it. The mushrooms literally just show up.

Other than spores and the like, what do fungi need?

Of course, mushrooms don’t need light, so better store them somewhere where light can’t seep through, like in a closed box. Another important factor to consider is the temperature. You need a stable one. Try not to reach 50-600F at this point. You don’t want to have mushrooms that look wilted.

These are the needs, or should we say, the secret of mushroom cultivation. As you may have noticed by now, the secret does not include any strange concoctions or anything; rather, the secret is to have the right combination of all of the above factors. Once you get the correct formula for a specific mushroom species, your business will grow exponentially.

Go ahead, why don’t you plant your first spore? Experiment what is the best combination for that guy and you will be in for a big surprise!
