The Best Places to Visit in Sedona, Arizona

I recently had the opportunity to visit Sedona, Arizona, which is about 120 miles north of Phoenix. There is certainly no shortage of things to do in the big city, and I thought I’d share with you some of the things I experienced on my brief visit to them. With its stunning natural beauty and weather any Northerner could envy, Sedona is home to many types of adventure tours and excursions.

One of the best things you can do is go on a horseback adventure through the nearby canyons. This full day adventure is provided by a company called “A Day in The West” and starts with a 2 hour jeep tour through great scenic areas, and see where many western movies were filmed. Then hop on your horse for a ride through Dead Horse Ranch State Park, culminating in an All You Can Eat BBQ dinner and show. The package is great and the price is unbeatable.

Another great outdoor adventure you can try is a kayak tour through the river canyon. You can also choose to float down the river in a tube, or just glide lazily in your kayak. Tours are led by some of the most experienced guides in the area and have a reputation for being very safe and reliable. One of the best parts is that they have a “wine and water” package, which gives you a few hours on the river and then tops it off with a wine tour on the river or at their famous nearby winery.

One thing I always wanted to try was an ATV ride through the desert expanse, which of course is one of the most fun things to do in Sedona. Take a guided tour of Skull Mountain and enjoy the 800 feet. view of the area. Free training is included for those who have never ridden an ATV before, and the entire trip is approximately 40 miles and is guided by experts in the area. Prices are reasonable and can be quite competitive with other businesses in the area.

Another great idea, especially if you’re looking for a romantic one, is to take a hot air balloon ride around the area. There are some of the most majestic rides you can take, and the year-round great weather and gentle winds make it the optimal place to take your partner.
