Plastic bed liner – better than a spray liner and cheaper too?

admin 0

Why would you want to add a plastic box liner to your truck? Without some kind of bed liner on your truck you have to be very careful or you will scratch and scrape the paint off the bed and then what happens? Rust happens! Rust is the beginning of the end for an attractive truck.

A spray on the bed liner is probably the most popular form of bed liner. But there are very strong arguments for putting a plastic liner on your truck instead of a spray on the liner.

Why a plastic liner?

Plastic bed liners are sturdy. No matter how tough your transport job is, a plastic liner is made to withstand the roughest use. Let’s take the example of transporting concrete blocks. The concrete blocks will scrape and mark your expensive spray on the siding. Since the spray on eyeliner is permanent, a scarred eyeliner needs to be repaired or it will just look rough. In contrast, a plastic liner is thicker than many other liners and virtually indestructible. And at less than half the cost of many coating sprays, plastic coating can be easily replaced if badly damaged from heavy use.

The plastic liners come in one piece custom made to fit your bed. Some liners are multi-piece to fit the bottom and sides newly tailored for your truck. You get a perfect fit.

Since plastic is so tough, you can really use your truck to haul just about anything without fear of damaging your expensive ride. Don’t worry, your truck bed is protected!

And again, plastic liners are cheap compared to most spray liners. You can get a stronger coating for half the cost.

Why not a plastic bed liner?

Plastic liners are custom fit and not available for many trucks. An alternative is a rubber bed mat if a plastic liner is not available.

Water can collect under many coatings and can be a place for rust to begin. Make sure your bed can drain well if you use a plastic liner.

If the liner is not securely secured in place, it can move around and remove the paint from the bed. This again can be a beginning of corrosion.

Conclution

Especially for trucks that do tough hauling jobs, a plastic bed liner is a great option to protect your truck from dents, scrapes, and scratches.
