Pain relief for an abscessed tooth

admin 0

One day I noticed that a student had a pained expression on her face. He said he had an abscess in one tooth, that he had forgotten his medication, and couldn’t focus enough to work on his homework. His pain level was 8 out of 10 (10 being the worst).

I asked him if he would like to try some Emotional Freedom Techniques to see if they would ease the extreme pain he was experiencing. She agreed that it was worth a try.

We use these statements for the first round of tapping:

* Even though I have an abscessed tooth, I am an OK kid.

* Even though I forgot my medication …

* Even though I feel a stabbing pain on the right side of my face …

* Even if they have to remove the tooth …

His pain level dropped to 6/10 after the first round of tapping. We did a second round that went down to 4/10.
We use the above statements and “Even though it still hurts …”

I noticed that she grunted. So, I asked her to continue with the above statements and her “GURRRR” was louder, which made her laugh. I find that laughing helps move energy, and that is what we intend to do with Emotional Freedom Techniques. I listen to the little noises my clients make that aren’t really words and I encourage them to make it louder.

* Although this stabbing pain is still here GURRRRR …

The pain was reduced to 1/10. One more round of tapping didn’t hurt !!! He was surprised that the pain disappeared completely.
