New Beach in Playa San Juan Tenerife – Property Playa San Juan

admin 0

Playa San Juan is a quiet and picturesque fishing village surrounded by banana trees located on the south coast of Tenerife between Las Américas and Los Gigantes. This town is similar to Los Cristianos, although on a smaller scale, except that it has not been developed to cater to tourism in the same way.

The town has been carefully developed in recent years, mainly on the outskirts, but it still has character and there is a pretty Church Square with several small bars and restaurants. There is a small fishing port with a pier, which is used by fishermen to unload their catch and a small beach area overlooking some new stylish bars and restaurants. There are plenty of outdoor tables to sit and admire the wonderful views of the harbour, beach, rugged cliffs and mountains.

The esplanade of the port has been rejuvenated and it has been extended around the bay where the new beach has been created. The new beach was formed from crushed stone and aggregate covered with fine, golden sand and is, to say the least, impressive. The Government invested heavily in this project from which a wonderful natural looking beach has evolved. The beach, being protected in a port, is very safe for bathers and bathers.

The beach stretches about half a kilometer around the bay and has been planted with palm trees to give it a tropical feel. The new beach esplanade has also been landscaped with plants and there are plenty of places to sit and relax. The beach has showers and there is also a kiosk. Local bars and restaurants are also close by to cool off.

The new beach esplanade continues around the old lime kiln and the next bay, which in contrast has a traditional Canarian rocky beach. There is also a paved path on top of a cliff that leads to the snake head sculpture and beyond to the old disused tuna cannery. Beneath the cliffs are many ancient caves, some of which show evidence of having been inhabited in the past.

To the west of the port area there are also a number of excellent beachfront bars and restaurants with a variety of different cuisines on offer, including traditional Canarian food, tapas and fish.

Playa San Juan can be reached by taking the TF-47 via Armenime at the end of the TF-1 highway. It takes less than half an hour by car from Las Américas and Los Cristianos. Bus services 473 and 477 follow the same route, 477 is faster because it is more direct. If you visit by car, there is a small parking lot near the beach, but otherwise there is street parking almost everywhere in town. If you visit Playa San Juan and the beach, please leave it as you found it for others to enjoy.

Playa San Juan has a relaxed atmosphere and is a great place to visit, any opportunity to visit the new beach should not be missed. The writer is lucky enough to live on the outskirts of this extraordinary town which surprisingly already has a strong British community, some of whom have lived in the town for many years.

Recent local developments in this up-and-coming area include the Abama 5* Resort Hotel and Golf Course, which is just a short drive away in the next town, and the huge new Isora Palace Hotel in Alcalá, which is almost ready to open. There are also plans to extend the TF-1 motorway to this part of the island.
