Motion detectors: no child should leave home without a motion detector

Motion detectors are small, inexpensive, and really work to keep the bad guys out of your home. However, there are many other uses for motion detectors that you may not have thought of.

One of them should be near and dear to the heart of every parent with a college-bound teen – this is the bedroom, or the room your child will stay in while at school.

No one wants to see their daughter or son go off to school or college. Many of us make jokes about how wonderful it will be to have full control of the refrigerator, but deep down, our hearts break when our child leaves the house for the first time. I know because it happened to me with my son.

One of the reasons we fear for our child’s safety is because he will be moving into a strange and sometimes dangerous environment. People hear the news about security issues at universities, and let’s be honest, sometimes bad things happen!

That’s why you should send your children to school with a device that will keep them safe in their bedroom.

Motion detectors are small and run on batteries. There are many types of these devices. Some are placed near the door so you know if someone comes into the room when the door is open. Another type can hang on the doorknob and will sound the alarm when someone touches the other side of the doorknob.

There is still another type (similar to a wedge) that you put in front of the door. When someone tries to open the door, the alarm sounds.

Regardless of where they are placed, each one will sound a very loud alarm when activated, alerting anyone in the room that someone is trying to break in.

Remember, your children will be far away in a strange place with no parents around and very few adults to keep them in line. Kids being what they are – you may want to put two or three motion detectors in your kid’s bag because their friends will want to borrow them when they see how well they work and how safe they’ll keep kids.

Don’t let your child be the next victim!

If you really want to keep your kids safe and secure when they’re at college, make sure you equip them with a motion detector or two.
