Betta fish farming

Raising Betta fish is not an easy task. However, an important factor is caring for your Bettas for efficient breeding.

How to breed?

To start with, you need to have a female Betta fish. However, it is a bit difficult to find a female Betta fish these days. Female Betta fish are boring compared to males. Although some are beautifully colored, their fins are usually shorter than those of the males.

You can keep two female Betta fish in the same tank, but you cannot do the same for males. First, you need to keep the male and female Bettas in different tanks and provide them with the best quality food. The female needs to eat properly, because the female Betta is less likely to produce eggs on an empty stomach.

With the help of this diet program, the male begins to form a gurgling nest, while the female begins to look a bit plump. Sometimes you can even witness the eggs inside the female Betta’s belly. This is the right time to put both fish together in the same tank.

You must then constantly monitor them, because there are chances that the male Betta could attack the female Betta. If this happens, then it is advisable to take the female Betta and try to breed her at another time, usually after several days.

While reproducing, the male Betta fish will wrap his body around the female in an attempt to pet her. After this, the eggs drip from her as she spawns, and immediately the male Betta unloads his sperm to inseminate the eggs.

The male Betta will then collect all the eggs from his jaws and place them in the bubble nest. This is the right time to remove the female Betta from the tank.

Betta Babies:

After two days of actual breeding, tiny Bettas emerge from their nests. After this, you should remove the male Betta fish from the tank, because it could eat the offspring.

There is no food available for Betta fish as they only eat small microbes and protozoa. You can breed germs by taking a little straw from your backyard and keeping it in an open jar filled with water. After 3-4 days, you will see that the water in the container becomes a bit muddy with all kinds of tiny life in it. This is the sign that the jar is full of Betta baby food.
