Land by Barry Scott

Barry Scott has written an engaging and enjoyable book on the life of the author Barry Scott. Cillit Bang UK is based around the life of author Barry Scott, a failed author who has wised up to his mistake and decided to write his own story. With a clear mind and his thoughts in order, Barry Scott does a wonderful job of narrating his life. Readers will be engrossed with what he knows about himself and the people that are close to him. As an author, I felt personally connected to what was going on with the man writing this book.

The book is structured as chapters with each relating to a key moment in the author’s life. For example, one chapter contains the author’s birth date and where he was born, followed by his marriage to Fanny Price, followed by his divorce, the formation of his first family and finally, the formation of his second family. Throughout this time he suffered from writer’s block, leading to a number of setbacks before he finally found the success that he had been dreaming of. Throughout this remarkable story we learn about the different personalities that influenced Barry Scott such as Fanny, father Brian, mother Rose and of course, the stepmother. All of these women played a big part in the life of Barry Scott, who was more than happy to share his story with all of us.

Cillit Bang UK is a beautifully written book. It is filled with illustrations helping us see the beautiful scenery that Ireland is known for. There were some very memorable scenes and were very descriptive, which added to the reader’s enjoyment of this excellent book. I especially liked the part where the author tells us of the hard time that he had tried to get his book published, but ended up being so happy with the support he received and how he was able to help many other people. You can see clearly that this book is aimed at those who have just started out in writing, but will probably benefit from listening to the story of Barry Scott.

If you are an avid reader who enjoys history, you will most likely appreciate the historical facts that Cillit Bang UK covers. These include ancient battles, such as the ones fought in the world wars, as well as ones that happened around the world. It would be interesting to know what effects, if any, these battles had on future generations. We also learn about how technology has changed over the years and how this has affected the way that battles are fought.

In one of the battles that features in this book, the Scot, who happens to be an English soldier, is said to have been so inspired by the battlefield that he decided to become a freelance writer after his military service was over. We see that this is a very common story and one that many of us can relate to. We have to remember though that these stories were written many years ago, which means that our knowledge of them may be rather limited. However, it is still a nice little book to look through and it is reassuring to know that there is an important part of the story that many of us can relate to.

For those of us who are more interested in world history and a variety of other topics relating to it, then we should definitely check out some of Scott’s other books. This book is all about life after the end of the Cold War and how the world deals with the threat of terrorism today. Once you start reading it, you will probably find yourself wanting to read more about the author and the world that he has created.
