New Mexico’s wagering laws include online wagering and mobile wagering through mobile apps. However, the state only permits in-person wagering at the casinos.

In the US, the only states without a legal form of sports betting are Alaska and Hawaii. However, the Department of Interior has not intervened in these cases. Despite this, it’s possible that Alaska may become the 49th state to legalize sports betting. However, there are other factors that need to be considered before the state takes action.

Is Sports Betting Legal in Your State?

Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri all have legal sports betting. The state has a long history of gambling, and its lawmakers have been pushing for sports betting for many years. The state’s Gaming Commission has released the initial rules for sports betting, but there are still many more regulations to be written.

The state of Missouri hasn’t had the chance to pass sports betting legislation in 2022, but there’s still a chance for lawmakers to advance a bill in the coming sessions. Although, a wagering bill that would allow adults to place bets at state casinos and online sportsbooks has been introduced, it is unlikely that it will ever make it to the governor’s desk.

In addition to the state’s sports betting legislation, Iowa has also approved a state-run lottery. The lottery will permit bettors to win prizes worth up to $100 million. It’s unclear if the lottery will be successful, but the legislature has been receptive to the lottery’s proposal.

Kansas has legalized single-game sports betting. The state has allowed mobile sports betting, which has already generated over $5 billion in handle. The state is planning to launch full sports betting by September of 2022. However, only six operators have gone live so far.

North Dakota is one of the rare states that has legalized sports betting without a legislative act. Its gaming compact with the federal government allows for tribal casinos to open retail sportsbooks, but these are primarily controlled by Native American entities. The state has three tribal casinos. It also operates an online sportsbook through a partnership with Churchill Downs.

Oklahoma has also legalized sports betting, but it’s still a bit of a mystery what state will be the first to legalize sports betting on a state-by-state basis. In the meantime, Oklahoma’s gaming compact has allowed several Native American tribes to open retail sportsbooks under federal authority.
