While the Eastern Conference playoffs have been disappointing this year, the NBA Western Conference Finals have been full of good stories. There have been sweeps and series of 7 games, both of which have been a lot of fun. Here is a brief breakdown of every game that has taken place so far in the Western Conference Playoffs.

In the first round, the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder. Lakers coach Phil Jackson got off to a heated start to this series by taking low shots at the way Thunder star Kevin Durant plays the game, insisting he lives on the free throw line.

As the defending champions, the Lakers earned the right to be safe heading into the playoffs, but it wouldn’t be an easy road to the second round. The Thunder took the Lakers to 7 games, ultimately losing, but letting the world know that they will be a contender for years to come.

In a matchup of couldn’t care less, the Utah Jazz were able to beat the Denver Nuggets in X games. I don’t know what it is about the Utah Jazz, but I really don’t like this team. Williams is great, but I don’t find them entertaining.

In the first round, the Phoenix Suns played the Portland Trailblazers and won solidly in 6 games.

The veteran San Antonio Spurs, in a big upset, usurped the #2 seed Dallas Mavericks. Mark Cuban will have nightmares throughout the offseason.

And then there were the Phoenix Suns. The Suns faced their longtime rivals, the San Antonio Spurs, in the first round of the playoffs. It’s a pretty lopsided rivalry though as Spurs have won pretty much every time they’ve met in recent years. This time it couldn’t have been more different, as the Suns swept the Spurs 4-0. It was his time.

The Lakers met the Jazz in the second round and swept them in 4 games. It was never closed. Now the Lakers and Suns meet in another exciting matchup.
